The time has come to put all excuses aside and get in shape!
As many of you know, I wasn't able to do much in the way of exercise (or anything else, really) while I was pregnant with Skylar. After she was born it was the middle of winter and quite frankly I didn't want to go outside. Here we are now living in Southern California in a town that has nearly ideal weather everyday.
After not working out AT ALL since last June its time for me to throw my excuses out the window...so here we go!
Matt and I have run 6 days in a row and it is getting easier by the day. We are starting small, but hope to up our distance every week. Wish us luck!

Hiking
This weekend Matt had to fly his plane to San Diego for maintenance. Rather than staying down there for a few days without us, he chose to ride the Amtrak back up the coast (4.5 hours) so we could spend part of his weekend with him.
Yesterday we went hiking at Rancho Sierra Vista, which is a small state park about 20 minutes from our house. This was Skylar's first hiking experience. Although, we didn't actually have to carry her the whole way because we started walking and then realized that the trail was good enough for our beast of a stroller, so Matt ran back to the truck and got it.
While hiking we saw a baby hawk, a full grown hawk that was hunting (so cool), and a really nasty looking coyote. I have never been afraid of a coyote before, but this one was walking towards us and didn't scare off until we were about 30-40 feet away from it, at which point it nonchalantly turned and walked off.
Matt's plane is supposed to be finished today (sadly), so he had to spend the rest of his "weekend" riding the train back to San Diego.
Here are a few pictures from our first hiking adventure.

Skylar decided to have a nap part way through the hike.

Life
I've started writing a blog post multiple times, only to be interrupted by a crying baby, a telephone call, etc. That said, I think I'll just say a couple things and leave the rest to pictures in hopes that I will actually get this one posted!
First of all, we moved. Matt got a job at Skydive Coastal California so we are currently living in Camarillo, CA. So far we've enjoyed going to a few different beaches and trying to figure out what this place has to offer. Although it has been a little hot from time to time, we really like the weather so far.
Skylar is growing up a lot! She currently has two teeth that have grown in this past week. She is starting to link more consonants and vowels to make more "words." She is getting bigger all the time. She is eating solids 3 times a day and her favorite thing so far is avocado....affectionately referred to as "cado" thanks to our cute nephew Caleb.
In this mess of pictures you will see: Skylar's first horseback ride on Gran-B's horse "Little Brother," Skylar's first 4th of July/6 month birthday, first roping lesson, fun in Seattle with her cousin Caleb, hanging out with Uncle Jon and Aunt Katie just before moving from CO to CA, meeting her Great-Grandma Betty, and a few from our little vacation to Laguna Beach.

3 Months
I can't believe that Skylar is already 3 months old!
This past weekend wasn't one of our best. She had been really fussy about feeding since last Monday, and this Sunday she completely refused to eat. I looked online trying to find out why babies would refuse to nurse and found three reasons: 1. Acid Reflux, 2. Ear Infection, 3. Thrush. So yesterday I took her to the Dr. and although we knew she had reflux, we found out that she currently has an ear infection and thrush as well! Poor baby! I can't believe she has been nursing at all!!!
She is now on a whole gammet of med's, which I don't love, but hopefully they make her feel better and get rid of all this garbage!

Poor thing can't seem to get a break. She is such a trooper though, throughout this whole week she has been pretty fussy, but nothing compared to what I would figure for all of the things her little body is dealing with right now! She has been smiling and cooing still, and sleeping at night, who would have thought?
She is so much fun these days. She loves to play harmonica with her Daddy. :) I will post a video of that asap. She also loves getting her diaper changed (unheard of for me). She enjoys going for stroller rides...which her Daddy calls her "chariot." She very much DISLIKES tummy time. Possibly because almost every time she has tummy time she throws up. I wouldn't like it either!
Overall, we are so thankful for such a beautiful little girl. We are so thankful that the health problems she has can be remedied or that she will likely grow out of them (reflux).
I am hoping that she starts feeling better and sleeping better so that I can upload more pictures and videos (and get my house clean, lol)!
For now these pictures that were taken with my phone will have to do! Better than nothing!

Two Months Already?!

~~Our little peanut has found her hands~~

~~Skylar and her barnyard friends~~
Thursday we went to Skylar's 2 month check up. She is weighing 10lbs 12oz (50th percentile) and is currently 22 inches long(38th percentile). She is very healthy and is doing well. She also got her first round of immunizations which was pretty hard on her mama. Thankfully I wasn't by myself this time ( like I was with her heel prick), my mom came with me and it was so great to have her there for moral support.
We were kind of afraid of what the next few days might be like after the shots, because we hear that kids are usually pretty fussy. However, for whatever reason, our baby has been happier in the past 2 days than she has been since she was 2 weeks old! She is smiling all the time, she has started giggling quite often, and she is learning how to push herself up on her arms when she is laying on her tummy. It is so crazy how fast time flies, I can't believe she is already 2 months old! We are going to have to start packing up her newborn size clothes now...but I guess we got pretty good use out of them! She has still been wearing them up until this week when they have gotten a little tight/short.
We are so thankful that she seems to be feeling a little bit better. She still has pretty bad reflux, but we are praying that her little digestive system starts to develop a little more so that she feels even better!
Here are a couple new pictures of our peanut. :)

Recently

Well it seems as if I have found yet another excuse why I haven't updated the blog recently. I thought it was the fact that I didn't have a camera, but it turns out...even with a camera its no fun to blog when it takes upwards of an hour to upload pictures! Who has that kind of time with a 7 week old baby? Not I.
This past weekend we had the pleasure of having the entire Chisum family up for a few days! It was so fun to have all of them. Jenn, Gary, Caleb, Jude, Lance and Val go to meet Sky for the first time. Caleb was so cute with her...he always wanted to give her kisses and help me burp her after feeding time. :)
We are so blessed to have such a great family with so much love to go around.
The past few weeks have been pretty rough. We found out when Sky was about 3 weeks old that she has acid reflux. She had been screaming nonstop day and night for a couple of days and she was starting to lose her voice almost completely. So we took her to the Dr. and walked out with a prescription for Prevacid. It has helped a ton! Now the only problem is that the little bug has really bad gas that wakes her up at night and during naps. She just screams until it passes and then generally goes right back to sleep.
Its incredible how horrible you feel when you are looking at your crying baby and can't do anything to help her! I'm so thankful she is doing better.
This week I am really trying to start getting her on a good solid schedule. It has been hard with her feeling bad and all of the goings on, but now that she is feeling better and things are settling down I am trying! :) She is currently taking a morning nap (kind of unheard of so far), which is why I can actually write a blog post at all. :)
Thank you all for your prayers over the past weeks! We really appreciate them.
Hopefully I will get somewhere that has faster internet so I can upload more than one or two pictures!
